The Prince of Wales Set to Attend COP30 Climate Summit in South America
The Prince of Wales plans to participate in the COP30 climate summit in Brazil during November, according to royal officials.
The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday evening at a event preceding the environmental conference, which is scheduled to take place in the Amazonian city of Belém.
The King and Prince were in attendance at the scientific institution event, marking an rare public appearance together at a climate summit preparatory event arranged together with the British authorities.
Environmental Advocacy Dedication
King Charles has been a long-time champion of environmental conservation - and the Prince of Wales has inherited the mission, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be hosted in Rio before the UN meeting.
Palace insiders have described the Prince's participation at the forthcoming conference as assuming an important role in "climate diplomacy".
Previous Activities
The King and Prince of Wales, making a joint entrance in the official car, were welcomed guests including conservation experts, researchers, environmental activists, diplomats and government officials.
This involvement featured addresses together with French leader Macron of France and other global statesmen at the Marine Economy Conference in the Principality of Monaco earlier this year.
Environmental Prize Connection
The climate conference will align with the prince's own climate innovation prizes, which will wrap up in Rio de Janeiro the day before he participates in the climate conference on 6 November.
Recently the royal figure described the award contenders as "contemporary champions".
Monarch's Environmental Record
King Charles has been a prominent presence at previous climate summits, delivering the inaugural speech in Dubai for COP28, including the reminder: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".
"For decades I've committed a significant amount of my life trying to warn of the critical dangers challenging our world over climate change, environmental shifts and ecological decline," the monarch informed attendees.
